Praxis SA ("Praxis SA", "the platform", "we", "us", "our") is operated by Greg Laxton as a sole proprietor. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who We Are

Praxis SA is a technology platform that facilitates introductions between homeowners and independent trade professionals in South Africa. We are not an employer of, nor do we control, any professional listed on the platform. We are not a party to any agreement between users.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the platform:

• Name, email address, and phone number when you register
• Location data (zip code, suburb, city) to match you with nearby professionals
• For professionals: identity documents, police clearance certificates, and trade qualifications submitted for verification purposes
• Job details, quotes, messages, and reviews you create through the platform
• Banking details provided by professionals, used solely for the purpose of platform fee invoicing and payment processing
• Device information and app usage data collected automatically for platform stability purposes

3. How We Use Your Information

• To connect homeowners with appropriate trade professionals
• To verify the identity and credentials of professionals on the platform
• To process platform fees and generate invoices
• To send transactional communications (quote notifications, payment confirmations, account alerts)
• To improve the platform and resolve technical issues
• To comply with applicable South African law

We do not use your personal information for marketing to third parties, and we do not sell your data under any circumstances.

4. Document Verification & Storage

Identity documents and certificates submitted by professionals for verification are stored in private, encrypted cloud storage (Supabase) accessible only to the platform operator. Documents are reviewed solely for the purpose of confirming identity and credentials. We retain only a verified status indicator and the date of verification. Original document files are permanently deleted once verification is complete. Documents are never shared with third parties, including homeowners.

5. Location Data

We use your zip code or suburb to calculate approximate distances between homeowners and professionals. We do not track your real-time GPS location, and no location data is shared with third parties.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only as strictly necessary to operate the platform:

• Supabase — our database and storage provider, operating under appropriate data processing agreements
• Resend — our transactional email provider, used only to deliver account and job-related notifications
• Law enforcement or regulatory authorities — only where required by South African law or a valid court order

No other third parties receive your personal information.

7. Data Security

All data is stored on encrypted servers. Access is restricted to the platform operator. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will permanently remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records). Verification documents are deleted immediately upon completion of the verification process.

9. Your Rights Under POPIA

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Object to the processing of your personal information
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

10. Cookies

The Praxis SA mobile application does not use cookies. This website uses no tracking cookies. We do not use analytics platforms that identify individual users.

11. Children

Praxis SA is not directed at persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us immediately at greg@laxtonsa.com.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Use

By downloading, registering for, or using the Praxis SA platform ("the platform", "Praxis SA"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

1. The Platform

Praxis SA is a technology platform operated by Greg Laxton as a sole proprietor. The platform facilitates introductions between homeowners ("Homeowners") and independent trade professionals ("Professionals"). Praxis SA is not a party to any agreement entered into between Homeowners and Professionals, does not employ or control Professionals, and does not guarantee, warranty, or endorse any services rendered through the platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Praxis SA. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and kept up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Platform Role & Limitation of Liability

Praxis SA provides a technology platform only. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable South African law:

• Praxis SA is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any services performed by Professionals
• Praxis SA does not warrant that Professionals hold any particular licence, insurance, or qualification beyond those verified at the time of registration — verification is provided as a convenience and does not constitute an ongoing endorsement
• Praxis SA accepts no liability for any loss, injury, damage, or claim arising from or related to services performed or not performed by any Professional
• Homeowners engage Professionals entirely at their own risk and are responsible for their own due diligence
• Praxis SA's total liability to any party shall not exceed the platform fee received in respect of the relevant job, to the extent permitted by law

4. For Homeowners

• You may post job requests and receive quotes from Professionals
• You are solely responsible for reviewing Professional credentials, ratings, and reviews before engaging them
• Payment terms, amounts, and timing are agreed directly between you and the Professional — Praxis SA is not a payment processor and does not hold or transfer funds between parties
• You agree not to circumvent the platform to avoid fair use, including contacting Professionals sourced through Praxis SA to conduct work outside the platform in order to avoid platform fees

5. For Professionals

• You must submit accurate credentials for verification and keep your profile information current
• You operate as an independent contractor. Praxis SA does not employ you, and no employment relationship exists between you and Praxis SA
• A platform fee applies to all completed jobs conducted through the platform. Your current fee rate is displayed on your profile and is based on a tiered structure tied to your rolling 3-month revenue average. The standard rate is 6%, reducing to 5%, 4%, or 3% as your monthly average revenue increases
• Platform fees are due within 14 days of receiving payment from the Homeowner, payable via EFT to the account details provided in the platform
• Late payments incur an additional 2% per month on the outstanding amount, calculated daily
• Continued non-payment may result in account suspension and referral to a debt collection process

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information at any time
• Circumvent the platform to avoid platform fees
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against other users
• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose under South African law
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the platform's technical infrastructure
• Impersonate another person or entity

Praxis SA reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove any account found to be in breach of these terms, at its sole discretion, without prior notice.

7. Disputes Between Users

Any dispute arising from services rendered is strictly between the Homeowner and the Professional. Praxis SA may, at its sole discretion and without any obligation to do so, provide a communication channel to assist parties. Any such assistance does not constitute mediation, arbitration, or legal advice, and Praxis SA accepts no responsibility for the outcome of any dispute. Parties may pursue their own legal remedies under South African law.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Praxis SA platform, including the application, website, branding, and design, is the property of Greg Laxton t/a Praxis SA. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Praxis SA and Greg Laxton harmless from any claim, loss, liability, cost, or expense (including legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your breach of these Terms, or any services you provide or receive through the platform.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting greg@laxtonsa.com. Praxis SA may terminate or suspend your access at any time for breach of these Terms or for any other reason at its discretion. Outstanding platform fees remain payable upon termination.

11. Changes to These Terms

Praxis SA reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
